Hi folks, I'm excited to let you all know that this feature is now live! Students can now see their percentage score for graded activities.
Due to popular demand, scores will be shown by default. If you wish to turn them off, you can do so in settings. Learn more here: https://support.quill.org/en/articles/9034576-how-do-students-see-their-scores-and-time-spent

Peter | Principal Product Manager at Quill: Thank you! Each quarter, I "raise" the stakes on their grades. Last quarter, they just needed to have everything in green, but this quarter I am looking at their average and providing a grade based on that -- however, they can't see the same data that I can see so they don't understand how I arrived at that grade. So excited that I went hunting for an answer -- I see a solution is in the works.

Kimberly Smolen: It sure is! Stay tuned!

I think allowing students to hover over an activity to see their percentage, time, etc. like we can see would be beneficial. The score range for the different colors (green, yellow, red) is so broad and this way they will have a better idea of how they are doing.

Peter | Principal Product Manager at QuillThis would be a great step in the right direction.

That would be a nice breakdown for kids and seems like it's pretty intuitive. Thank you!

Hi all, thanks to everyone for this feedback over the last couple of days (including on the related idea "Allow students to see how much time they've spent on activities").
I am curious for everyone's thoughts on the following:
- On the "Completed activities" tab for each class, students would see a summary of total activities completed, average score, and time spent. Students would be able to select from various timeframes (today, this week, this month, this year, etc), with "This week" being the default. See the attached image for a mockup of how this might look.
- If they are so inclined, students would be able to hover on the colored tile for each activity to see their score and the time spent for that specific activity (similar to what teachers can do on the Activity Summary report).
Please let me know if this would meet your needs, or if there's something different that you'd like to see.
A quick disclaimer, this is all very much still in the exploration phase and I can't promise any of this functionality will actually ship. It's just helpful for us to understand everyone's needs so we can weigh up how best to solve them.
Thanks!

Peter | Principal Product Manager at Quill: This is great as long as students can see individual activity scores as well. This way, they can know which activities need to be replayed.

Peter | Principal Product Manager at Quill: This is fantastic. The students need to see individual activity scores, too, so they can know which activities need to be replayed.

Hi all, yes, just to be clear, under this proposal students would be able to access individual scores as well. They would do so by hovering on the colored tile for each activity.

Yes, this would be very beneficial - because it would allow the student to monitor their own progress and know what area/s he/she needs to work on!

Peter | Principal Product Manager at Quill: This would be great! I ask my students to spend a set number of minutes each week in Quill, and the only way they can see if they have met their requirement is for me to check. With 70 students, this requires a lot of time for me.

I think it's important for students to see because there's a big difference in being proficient at 80% and being proficient at 98%. Also, the students ask all the time, "But what did I make on it?"
Dawn Patrick
Folks have already responded with what I'd say. Feedback is better the faster they get it, and watching scores go up is incredibly motivating for kids!

I would love for my students to see their percentage score so their can monitor their own learning and know if they met my expectation for the skill of a minimum of 80%.
